Joliet, Ill. – Saint Xavier University junior midfielder Kyle Breitenbach (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso University/Valparaiso H.S.) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Player of the Week Tuesday for his game-winning goal against Aquinas College (Mich.) last Wednesday. In SXU's only game of the week, Breitenbach was the hero scoring an unassisted goal just over five minutes into the overtime period to give the No. 25 ranked Cougars a 2-1 victory. SXU improved to 1-1-0 with the win.
Breitenbach finished Wednesday's game with two shots on goal to lead the offensive attack. He took a shot on goal in the game's 32ndminute that was saved by the Aquinas goalie. It was the first time that Breitenbach has earned the weekly honor in his collegiate career with the Cougars.
Saint Xavier (1-1-0 overall) continues its season on Wednesday, September 7, with its home opener against Goshen College (Ind.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
