CHICAGO - Andy Young, a senior center back from Mokena, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's soccer program. Young was coached by Brian Papa at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort, Ill. He will join the SXU roster in the fall of 2011.

Young is the son of Stan and Jan Young of Frankfort. He plans to start a degree in business this fall at Saint Xavier University. SXU men's soccer coach Ed Vucinic believes that Young has all the physical attributes needed to contribute at a significant level early in his collegiate career.

"Andy will be a great addition to our roster," said Vucinic. "He's a big strong, physical, center back with some technical ability, who will have the opportunity to compete for significant playing time right off the bat if he's physically and mentally ready. He was a very important part of Lincoln-Way East's success last fall until an ACL injury ended his season. There's every chance that he could anchor our backline for the next four years."
