Joliet, Ill. - After finishing its season with a 34-16 overall record, a No. 24 national ranking and a share of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season title, it was little surprise to learn that six players on the Saint Xavier University softball roster were named to the 2011 All-CCAC Softball Team when the honors were released by the conference office this week. The Cougars had senior catcher Amy Kennedy (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac), senior first baseman Courtney Murphy (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) and junior shortstop Ashley Hunter (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) earn first team recognition. Senior center fielder Megan Paradzinski (Munster, Ind./Munster), sophomore third baseman Kate Mollohan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) and freshman pitcher Megan Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) garnered spots on the second team.

Kennedy hit .312 (48-for-154) with 15 doubles and five home runs over 48 games and was flawless defensively behind the plate ringing up 240 putouts and 33 assists with no errors. She also posted 28 runs scored and 37 RBI on the year. Murphy led SXU with 40 RBI to go along with her 28 runs scored, 11 doubles and six homers. She hit .308 (44-for-143) over 47 games and was also tough as the team's starting first baseman with a team-high 277 putouts to just three errors (.990 fielding percentage). Behind team-bests of 66 hits, 49 runs scored and 16 doubles, Hunter was a juggernaut offensively for the Cougars and the only player on the roster to record over a .400 batting average at .402 (66-for-164).

Paradzinski played in 47 games as Saint Xavier's starting center fielder and hit .371 (62-for-167) with 30 run scored and team-high 12 stolen bases. In her second year, Mollohan also emerged as an offensive force for the Cougars hitting .379 (58-for-153) with six doubles, 22 runs scored and 25 RBI over 48 games. Nonnemacher had a huge debut season for SXU going 18-6 over 27 games and 23 starts. She had a team-low 2.14 earned run average (ERA) and led the staff with 151 strikeouts and eight shutouts.

Saint Xavier ended its season on Saturday, May 7, in the championship game of the 2011 CCAC Softball Tournament. The Cougars finished their 2011 season with a 34-16 overall record and won a share of the CCAC regular season crown with a 14-4 mark.
