CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University senior third baseman Nick Tantillo (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) and freshman outfielder Tony Testin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) were both recently named to the 2007 NAIA Region VII Gold Glove Team when the honors were released by the regional office. Both individuals had excellent seasons offensively and defensively for the Cougars, who wrapped up their season last week at the 2007 NAIA Region VII Baseball Tournament in La Crosse, Wis.
Tantillo finished up his career at SXU with a solid senior season. He hit .317 (45-for-142) with 10 doubles, 24 runs scored and 23 runs batted in (RBI). Defensively, Tantillo had 42 putouts and 72 assists with just 10 errors. In his debut season with the Cougars, Testin made an immediate impact hitting .365 (72-for-197) on the year with 11 doubles, two triples, 45 runs scored, and 40 RBI. Playing most of the season in right field, Testin racked up 97 putouts and two assists with just two errors in the outfield. He finished the season with a fielding percentage of .980.
Saint Xavier wrapped up its 2007 season last week at the regional tournament. The Cougars finished with an overall record of 31-21 and were first in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) with an impressive league mark of 18-2.
