Hillsdale, Mich. - A school record and "A" standard qualifying time of
9:21.46 by the Saint Xavier University women's 4x800 meter relay team as well
as "B" standard qualifying times by senior Lauren Dentzman (Lemont,
Ill./Lemont) and junior Rachael Dean (Lindenhurst, Ill./Judson
University/Lakes) in the 1500-meter run highlighted an impressive meet for the
SXU women's outdoor track and field team at the 45th Annual Gina
Relays in Hillsdale, Mich., this weekend.
Dean finished the 1500-meter run in 4:41.12 and Dentzman was right
behind her at 4:41.34. The relay
team was made up of junior Jackie Ott (Island Lake, Ill./Marian Central
Catholic), Dentzman, Dean and senior Kayla Gilbert (Country Club Hills,
Ill./Shepard). The relay time beat
the previous school record time by 12 seconds and each member of the group ran
a personal-best time for their 800-meter splits.
"I could not be
more thrilled with the team's performance this weekend," said Saint Xavier
University women's track and field coach Lisa Ebel. "I am particularly eager to see how this relay team competes
at the national meet in late May, because this is the strongest relay team in
our program's history. The most
amazing part of this qualification is that each runner ran a personal-best time
in each 800."
