Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University freshman Megan
Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) was named the Chicagoland
Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Pitcher of the Week when the conference
office released the weekly honor Wednesday.
Nonnemacher went 3-0 on the week with a pair of shutouts to help
the Cougars claim a share of the CCAC regular season championship. It was the second time this season that she
has claimed the award after earning the honor back on March 26.
the week with a key conference win over Purdue University-North Central (Ind.)
by a score of 5-2 and threw the entire game with seven strikeouts and just one
earned run allowed. She then followed
that outing with a five-inning shutout (8-0) of Calumet College of St. Joseph
(Ind.) striking out six batters and only allowing one hit. Nonnemacher finished out the week with a
two-hit shutout over Grand View University (Iowa) to give SXU a 1-0 victory
finishing with 10 strikeouts. On the
week, she had a 0.37 earned run average (ERA) and 23 strikeouts, while only
walking four batters.
Xavier (30-12 overall/14-4 CCAC) currently owns the No. 17 spot on the latest
NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll released by the national office on Tuesday,
April 26. The Cougars hope to continue
their regular season slate (weather permitting) on Saturday, April 30, with a
road doubleheader against non-conference NAIA foe Bethel College (Ind.)
starting at 12 p.m. (central).
