CHICAGO - The Saint
Xavier University men's outdoor track team competed at the Chicagoland
Championships on Saturday, April 9, on the campus of University of Chicago. Highlights of this meet included: junior Brandon Hummer (Willowbrook,
Ill./Hinsdale South) turning in a fine time of 1:59.88 in the 800-meter run, junior
Matt Rychel (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) running a season-best time of 4:01.02 in
the 1500-meter run, freshman Chris Shellenberger (Crown Point, Ind./Crown
Point) capping a season's best 10:17 in the 3000-meter steeplechase and the
4x400 meter relay team of Rychel, junior Daniel Hasty (Oak Lawn, Ill./Brother
Rice), freshman Shane Kenney (Porter, Ind./Chesterton) and Hummer posting a
time of 3:34.21.
The Cougars continue their outdoor season by heading to
Joliet, Ill., on Saturday, April 16, to compete in the Chicagoland Collegiate
Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championships.
The meet begins at 11 a.m.
