CHICAGO - There was no shortage of offensive production for the Saint Xavier University softball team in a doubleheader sweep of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Trinity International University (Ill.) Tuesday afternoon in Deerfield, Ill. In fact, the Cougars combined for 23 runs and 30 hits over the pair of games, both victories by scores of 8-0 and 15-4. Junior Amie Brown (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) got the shutout victory in Tuesday's first game improving her record to 8-2 on the year. Brown allowed just four hits and two walks over the five-inning affair, while striking out two batters. Junior shortstop Ashley Hunter (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) and sophomore third baseman Kate Mollohan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) each racked up five hits for SXU on the day.

Senior catcher Amy Kennedy (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac) got the offense rolling in the opening game Tuesday hitting a two-RBI double in the top of the first inning to help the Cougars take an early 3-0 lead. Saint Xavier would continue to pour it on in the third, fourth and fifth innings scoring five more unanswered runs to end things in the fifth due to the eight-run lead. Hunter finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a homer, three runs scored and two RBI. Mollohan went 3-for-3 with a double and a RBI.

After giving up two runs to the Trojans in the bottom of the first inning of game two, the SXU offense exploded again scoring nine runs over the next three frames en route to the 15-4 victory in six innings. Senior first baseman Courtney Murphy (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) had a huge game for the Cougars going a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBI. Kennedy and senior center fielder Megan Paradzinski (Munster, Ind./Munster) each recorded three hits in the nightcap. Freshman Megan Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) got the victory on the mound for SXU going all six innings and allowing five hits, four runs (all earned) and five walks with four strikeouts. She is now 8-4 overall this season.

Saint Xavier (18-8 overall/5-1 CCAC) continues conference play on Thursday, April 7, with a home doubleheader against Judson University (Ill.). The first game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at SXU Softball Field in Chicago.
