CHICAGO - Despite 13 kills and seven digs by freshman right side hitter Evan Muys (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg), the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team could not pick up a win in its regular season finale. The Cougars (7-18 overall) fell to Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) Eastern Conference leader Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) in three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-20 at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Fighting Bees are currently ranked No. 3 in the latest NAIA Men's Volleyball Top 10 Poll and own a 25-4 overall record.

Sophomore outside hitter Aaron Porter (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) posted nine kills, eight digs and two block assists for SXU on the night. Freshman setter Kevin Maxwell (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) finished with team-highs of 35 assists and 12 digs, while freshman libero Johnathan Hernandez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton CC/Morton) scooped up nine digs. Saint Ambrose was led offensively by junior outside hitter Dan Dowjotas, who finished the match with nine kills.

Saint Xavier (7-18 overall/6-8 MAMVIC) heads to Adrian, Mich., on Friday, April 1, to take part in the 2011 MAMVIC Eastern Conference Tournament. The Cougars will take the No. 5 seed into the eight-team tourney and will face off against No. 4 seed Clarke University (Iowa) in first round action at 4 p.m. (eastern) Friday.
