CHICAGO - A double by junior shortstop Austin Lehmann (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) sparked a six-run, seventh inning as Saint Xavier University rallied to get an 8-7 win over NCAA Division II Lewis University (Ill.) in collegiate baseball action Wednesday at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago. Lehmann's double was the first of seven hits in the frame for the Cougars, who trailed 6-2 heading into the seventh. Lehmann finished the game 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. It was the seventh straight win for SXU since starting the season at 6-12-1.

Freshman right-hander Scott Vachon (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) got the win (3-1) on the mound for Saint Xavier in relief. He threw just the seventh inning and put the Flyers down in order with a pair of strikeouts. The Cougars cranked out 14 hits in the ballgame with five different players, including Lehmann, posting two hits apiece. Senior centerfielder Anthony Maziur (Oak Forest, Ill./Northern Illinois University/Oak Forest) and junior second baseman Tom Simek (New Lenox, Ill./St. Laurence) each went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI for SXU. Lehmann helped plate the Cougars' two runs in the bottom of the second with a two-RBI double. Lewis would build its lead to 6-2 after five innings after scoring three runs in the first inning, another run in the third and two more in the top of the fifth before SXU mounted its comeback.

Saint Xavier (13-12-1 overall/6-0 CCAC) heads to Bourbonnais, Ill., on Thursday, March 31, to take on Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.). The nine-inning game will start at 3:30 p.m. at Tiger Field.
