CHICAGO - A RBI single by senior second baseman Craig Buske (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) completed a two-run, ninth-inning rally to lift the Saint Xavier University baseball team to a dramatic 5-4 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Robert Morris College (Ill.) Sunday afternoon at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago. Due to the recent cold and wet weather, the Cougars (16-12 overall/8-1 CCAC) added a second non-conference game with the Eagles following the first game, which SXU won 8-0 in seven innings.

The conference win over RMC Sunday avenged an 8-7 loss on April 4, the only blemish that Saint Xavier has on its CCAC mark this season (8-1). Buske finished game one with a team-high three hits in addition to a double, a run scored, and a RBI. Freshman right fielder Tony Testin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, while junior left fielder Joe Miller (Chicago, Ill./Gordon Tech) was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Sophomore right-hander Bryant Myjak (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) got the start and threw seven solid innings allowing eight hits, two runs (both earned), and two walks with three strikeouts. Sophomore Dan Miller (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) got the win (3-0) in relief throwing the final two innings and giving up four hits, two runs (both earned), and a walk with three strikeouts.

With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, SXU took a 2-1 lead on a sacrifice fly to right field by senior third baseman Nick Tantillo (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew). The Eagles tied the game again, 2-2, in the top of the fifth with a RBI off a fielder's choice, but the Cougars answered in the bottom of the inning when Testin brought Joe Miller home from third on a sacrifice fly to centerfield. Down 3-2 heading into the ninth, Robert Morris posted two runs in the inning on back-to-back RBI singles to take a 4-3 lead. In danger of giving up a second ninth-inning lead to the Eagles this season, Saint Xavier got a walk from senior catcher Brian Grupp (Granger, Ind./Mishawaka Penn) and a single from Joe Miller to put its first two runners on base. Another sacrifice fly by Testin tied the game, 4-4, and, with two outs and Miller at third base, Buske hit a shot up the middle to bring home the game-winning run.

Freshman leftie Jayson Koehn (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) threw a gem for the Cougars in the day's second game. Over six innings of work, he allowed just three hits, no runs, and three walks over six innings with three strikeouts to earn his first win of the season (1-3). Freshman first baseman Ken Tezak (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) had a huge game at the plate going 3-for-4 with a triple, home run, two runs scored, and four RBI. Buske also posted three hits in the game going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. SXU scored all eight runs in the first four innings of play to cruise to the 8-0 non-conference victory.

Saint Xavier (16-12 overall/8-1 CCAC) hosts a conference game against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Monday, April 16. The nine-inning affair is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Monday at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field.
