CHICAGO - Despite 27 points and 12 rebounds by freshman guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso), the No. 4 seed Saint Xavier University men's basketball team ended its season Thursday night with a 104-94 loss to No. 1 ranked and seeded Robert Morris University (Ill.) in the semifinals of the 2011 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament at the Gentile Center in Chicago. The Cougars (19-13 overall) made things interesting in the first half taking a 41-40 lead into the locker room at halftime. However, the Eagles shot 79 percent (26-for-33) from the field and scored 64 points in second-half action to pull away for the 10-point victory.

Freshman forward Mark Peters (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) and junior forward Brian Sherwood (Oak Forest, Ill./Judson University/Oak Forest) each scored 14 points for SXU. Senior guard Marco Samimy (Peterson Woods, Ill./CICS-Northtown Academy) also posted double figures in scoring Thursday with 12 points off the bench, while junior guard Ed Gilgenbach (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) chipped in 11 points and five rebounds. Junior guard Diante Watkins recorded 25 points and 13 assists for the Eagles, while senior forward Reggie Bunch pitched in 23 points and 12 rebounds. The Cougars won the battle of the boards out-rebounding Robert Morris, 45-30, and also finished with 26 assists as a team, but the impressive shooting totals for the Eagles proved to be the difference maker in the game.

Saint Xavier ends its 2010-11 season with a 19-13 overall record. The Cougars finished with fourth in the final CCAC standings with a 3-7 mark.
