CHICAGO - Freshman middle blocker Mike Capone (Lyons, Ill./Morton CC/Morton) led the offensive attack with nine kills and two service aces, but the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team could not slow down No. 9 ranked Hannibal-LaGrange College (Mo.) Saturday morning in a match hosted by Robert Morris University (Ill.) at Alumni Gym in Chicago. The match lasted three sets with scores of 19-25, 17-25 and 21-25. Sophomore outside hitter Aaron Porter (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) had a solid outing for SXU as well Saturday finishing with six kills and 15 digs.
Freshman libero Johnathan Hernandez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton CC/Morton) was tough defensively for the Cougars posting 15 digs as well. Capone also led the team in total blocks with one solo stop and three assisted. It was SXU's first match since February 16 after having their tri-match cancelled Friday due to last week's winter storm.
