South Bend, Ind. - Freshman guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) was nearly unstoppable Saturday scoring a game-best 24 points in a big 66-46 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road win for Saint Xavier University over Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB) in South Bend, Ind. The Cougars (17-11 overall/2-6 CCAC) shot 52 percent (24-for-46) from the field and also won the battle of the boards with a 29-14 advantage in the rebounding column. SXU also racked up 14 steals on the day, which helped lead to 19 turnovers by the Titans.

Freshman forward Mark Peters (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) shot 7-for-10 from the field and posted 16 points and five rebounds for the Cougars. Sophomore point guard Roosevelt Green (Markham, Ill./Tinley Park) scored 12 points in the win, while junior guard Ed Gilgenbach (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) chipped in 10 points. Saint Xavier jumped out early to an 11-4 lead in the first couple of minutes of play and forced the Titans into 11 first-half turnovers, which helped them capitalize on the offensive end. IUSB would make a late run in the opening half to trim the Cougar lead to six points, 29-23, at the break. In the second half, the Cougars pushed the lead to 50-37 with 10 minutes to go in the contest. SXU would never look back as they continued to own the paint the rest of the way.

Saint Xavier (17-11 overall/2-6 CCAC) hosts its final home game of the 2010-11 regular season on Wednesday, February 23, against CCAC rival University of St. Francis (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. and both of SXU's two seniors, DeVon Chandler and Marco Samimy, will be honored prior to tip-off.
