CHICAGO - Jack
Krieger, a 6-3 senior guard/forward at Plainfield North High School in Plainfield,
Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic
career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's basketball
team. Krieger, who averaged 22.0 points
and 10.0 rebounds a game for the Tigers as a junior, is currently wrapping up
his prep career at Plainfield North under coach Nick DiForti this season and will
join the Cougars as a freshman for the 2011-12 campaign.
"I am very excited about Jack's decision to attend Saint
Xavier University," said SXU head men's basketball coach Tom O'Malley. "He is an excellent three-point shooter and
an all-around quality person. I think he
will have a great college career in a Cougar uniform."
Krieger is the son of Matt and Lori Krieger of Plainfield. He plans to pursue a degree in biology when
he joins SXU for the 2011-12 academic year.
Krieger earned plenty of honors during his junior season with both
all-conference and all-area recognition in addition to being named to three
different all-tournament teams (Pontiac, Joliet West and Plainfield North). He is also a member of the National Honor
Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.
Saint Xavier University
has a rich tradition of men's basketball with the team averaging over 24 wins a
season and making nine trips to the NAIA National Tournament during O'Malley's
14-year tenure. The Cougars have also
captured four of the last 13 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC)
