If you are a Saint Xavier University student interested in trying out for the 2011-12 Cougar Cheerleading squad, make your way over to the Shannon Center on Sunday, April 3, at 1 p.m. for auditions. Open try-outs will begin promptly at 1 p.m.

Tryout Information:

Please come prepared with a Cheer and the tryout application.

• Three Consecutive Jumps, Double Toe-Touch
• The School Fight Song will be taught to you
• All participants will be required to base or fly in a one-legged stunt. Flyers must do a single-twist dismount
• Tumbling is not required, but recommended. Mats will be provided.
• There is no dress code for try-outs. Come in comfortable clothes and gym shoes.
• Please see Skill Categories and Point Value section (below) for more information!
• All SXU students are encouraged to try out for the team.

You will be required to bring your own individual cheer for try-outs. The school fight song will be taught to you during the beginning of the try-out. You will have time to practice the fight song with returning squad members before you have to perform it. All skills, other than stunting, will be performed individually. Results from try-outs will be posted after the last candidate has finished their try-out. After results have been posted, there will be a brief team meeting to discuss summer practices, choreography, fundraising, squad responsibilities, etc. If you are unable to attend try-outs and would like to be considered for the team, you may submit a video displaying the required skills to the coaching staff. Videos are due by March 26, 2011.
