CHICAGO - With all 11 players on the active roster logging at least five points and a rebound, the No. 18 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team rolled to a 107-50 victory over Trinity Christian College (Ill.) Wednesday evening at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (17-6 overall) had six different players score in double figures led by 14 points each by senior point guard Alex Barone (Joliet, Ill./Marian Catholic) and junior forward Brittany Jones (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew). It was also the first time that SXU has surpassed the century mark in the scoring column this season.

Junior guard Marissa Young (Monroe, Wis./St. Joseph's College/Monroe) recorded 13 points, six assists and six steals for Saint Xavier, while sophomore guard Maureen Riley (Alma, Mich./Sacred Heart Academy) came off the bench to drop in 12 points toward the winning effort. Also scoring in double figures for the Cougars were junior forward Mary Kusner (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) and freshman forward Dana Sibley (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) with 11 points apiece. Freshman forward Chrissy Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) led SXU's rebounding effort with eight boards on the night.

The outcome was never really in doubt as Saint Xavier jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never trailed in the ballgame. The Cougars led by as many as 17 points in first-half action and took a 50-33 advantage into the break. SXU shot 58 percent (42-for-73) from the field in the game and racked up 31 steals as a team. The Trolls committed 39 turnovers in the game and the Cougars capitalized on all the miscues by scoring 64 of its points off turnovers.

Saint Xavier (17-6 overall/4-1 CCAC) returns to its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) schedule on Saturday, February 12, with a road game against Roosevelt University (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start Saturday at the Keating Sports Center on the campus of Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).
