Xavier University junior Rachael Dean
University/Lakes) ran an "A" standard qualifying and personal-best time of
5:09.28 in the indoor mile Saturday at the Keck Ecumenical hosted by Illinois
Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill.
It is the third event this season that she has qualified for the 2011
NAIA National Indoor Track & Field Championships in after setting a school
record in the 3000-meter run with an "A" standard time of 10:20:24 and then
finishing the 1600-meter leg of SXU's qualifying Distance Medley Relay (DMR)
team. Dean finished second overall in
the indoor mile race out of the 36 runners competing in the event.
"Rachael is running phenomenally well right now and it is
always fun to record a personal-best time in an event," says Saint Xavier
University women's track and field coach Lisa Ebel. "I am really looking forward to seeing her
compete at the national meet in March, because I think going up against the NAIA's
best will really bring out the highest level of her abilities."
Saint Xavier heads to Naperville, Ill., on Friday,
February 11, to take part in the Chicagoland Women's Indoor Championships
hosted by North Central College (Ill.).
The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
The NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled to begin
on Thursday, March 3, in Geneva, Ohio.
