Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University freshman guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Basketball Division I Player of the Week Tuesday for the second time this season after his impressive play in a win over CCAC foe Roosevelt University (Ill.). Karp first captured the award back on November 23, 2010. It was the third time that a SXU player has earned the weekly honor with sophomore point guard Roosevelt Green (Markham, Ill./Tinley Park) snagging the first one of the season back on November 9.
Karp posted 25 points and eight rebounds in the 97-68 win over the Lakers. He also had two assists and a block, while shooting 9-of-13 (.692) from the floor. Five of his points came from the foul line as he went a perfect 5-for-5 from the stripe. Karp is currently second in the CCAC in both scoring and field goal percentage averaging 19.1 points per game and shooting at a stellar 58.9 percent clip.
Saint Xavier (13-5 overall/1-1 CCAC) hosts Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) in a non-conference NAIA match-up at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
