CHICAGO - Led by two goals from sophomore midfielder Sarah Scigalski (Alsip, Ill./Mother McAuley), the No. 11 ranked Saint Xavier University women's soccer team rolled to a 3-0 win over No. 26 Trinity International University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Wednesday at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. SXU improves to 7-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while TIU drops to 6-2 overall with a 0-1 league mark.
Freshman Danielle Wagner (Worth, Ill./Stagg) had a huge day in goal for the Cougars posting her first shutout of the season along with eight saves. Scigalski scored the game's first two goals with the first coming unassisted in the 33rd minute of play and the second recorded just over six minutes into the second half off an assist from junior midfielder Alana LoPresti (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South). Junior forward Lissa Coby (Lake Villa, Ill./Grant Community) netted the third and final goal for SXU in the 63rd minute off a pass from junior midfielder Aleks Sudar (Omaha, Neb./Bryan).
Saint Xavier (7-2 overall, 1-1 CCAC) returns to action on Saturday, September 23, on the road against CCAC foe Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.). Start time for Saturday's game is scheduled for 11 a.m. in Bourbonnais, Ill.
