CHICAGO -- Freshman midfielder Matt Prunckle (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) scored the game-winning goal just 1:11 into the first overtime period to lift the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team over visiting Illinois Wesleyan University, 2-1, in non-conference action Wednesday at SXU stadium. It was the second straight win for the Cougars after defeating William Penn University (Iowa) Saturday, 2-1. SXU led at the half 1-0 after junior midfielder Paul Herbst (Cary, Ill./McHenry CC) scored in the game's 39th minute off an assist by freshman forward Tim Engel (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg). IWU's freshman midfielder/forward Colin Aubin tied the game up, 1-1, in the 60th minute off a pass from sophomore defender Mark Opal. Prunckle scored the winning goal off an assist by senior defender and co-captain Chad Mozden (Palos Heights, Ill./Moraine Valley CC).

The Cougars (2-1-1 overall) will host Aquinas College (Mich.) on Friday, September 10, for a non-conference match-up at SXU stadium. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
