South Bend, Ind. - Freshman forward Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) continued the hot start to his collegiate career by finishing with a game-best 26 points for the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team in a 93-64 victory over Holy Cross College (Ind.) Tuesday night at McKenna Arena in South Bend, Ind. The Cougars are off to a perfect 8-0 start to the 2010-11 season and have outscored their opponents by an average margin of 27 points. Karp was very efficient in his shot selection on the night hitting 12 of his 16 attempts (75 percent), including two of his three tries from beyond the three-point arc.
Senior guard DeVon Chandler (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) had a huge all-around night for SXU posting 12 points, six rebounds, eight assists and six steals in the game. Senior forward Jake Listebarger (Harvard, Ill./McHenry County College/Richmond-Burton) also scored in double figures for the Cougars with 11 points off the bench to go along with three assists. The outcome was never in doubt as SXU shot a blistering 64 percent (37-for-58) from the field and jumped out to an early 21-2 lead in the game's first six minutes. Junior guard Justin Breveard led the Saints in scoring finishing with 19 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the floor.
Saint Xavier (8-0 overall) continues its road stretch on Saturday, November 27, heading to Huntington, Ind., to take on NAIA rival Huntington University (Ind.). The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. (central) tip-off.
