Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University junior guard Marissa Young (Monroe, Wis./St. Joseph's College/Monroe) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Basketball Division I Player of the Week late Wednesday after big outings in three games last week. Young averaged 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 5.0 steals over the three-game stretch as the No. 6 ranked Cougars went 2-1 on the week. She led the team in scoring in all three games posting at least 20 points in every contest.

Young had 26 points against Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in the first game of the week on Tuesday, November 9. She followed that performance with 20 points against AIB College of Business (Iowa) on Saturday and then posted another 26 points against No. 25 ranked Saint Ambrose University (Iowa). Young had her best numbers of the week against the toughest foe posting six assists and six steals to go along with her 26 points. She finished the week shooting 51 percent (22-for-43) from the floor, 46 percent (7-for-15) from three-point range and 80 percent (21-for-26) from the stripe. Last week, senior guard Shalonda Young (Chicago, Ill./Crane Tech) won the first installment of the conference's weekly award.

Saint Xavier (4-1 overall) will take on NCAA Division I Loyola University (Ill.) in an exhibition game on Saturday, November 20. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Gentile Center in Chicago.
