CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University senior forward Ryan Clemens (Midlothian, Ill./Trinity Christian/Moraine Valley/Lincoln-Way East) earned the final Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic
Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season
Tuesday for his impressive play on the field last week. Clemens scored both goals in a 2-1 overtime
victory over rival University of St. Francis (Ill.) in first-round action of
the 2010 CCAC Men's Soccer Tournament this past Saturday.
the game's first goal in the 75th minute on a header set up by a
cross from junior midfielder Adrian Guzman (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle). The game-winning score came just 1:11 into
the extra period when Clemens headed the ball again into the back of the net
off an assist from senior midfielder Ben Johnson (Woodridge, Ill./Western
Illinois University/Naperville North).
Although not scoring in the game, Clemens also played well in a 4-3
upset win over No. 23 Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) earlier last
week. He is currently second on the team
in goals scored (6).
Xavier (13-5-1 overall/8-1-1 CCAC) continues postseason play on Wednesday,
November 10, hosting a semifinals match-up against No. 3 seed Olivet Nazarene
University (Ill.). The game is scheduled
for a 7 p.m. start at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
