Findlay, Ohio - Saint Xavier University senior cornerback Pat Geary (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and junior kicker Tom Lynch (Frankfort, Ill./Southern Illinois University/Joliet Junior College/Lincoln-Way East) were named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, Monday when the league office released the 10th installment of the weekly honors for the 2010 season. Both players were huge in the No. 3 ranked Cougars' impressive 30-6 win over No. 7 University of Saint Francis (Ind.) at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago over the weekend.

Geary finished Saturday's game with a team-high tying nine total tackles (six solo, three assists), including two tackles for losses. He also recorded two pass break-ups and an interception. His pick came in the end zone and ended a long, 17-play drive by USF to open the second half that took nine minutes off the clock and had SXU holding a 20-0 lead. The six-point performance by Saint Francis was its lowest scoring output in a regular-season game since the 1999 season opener against Valparaiso University (Ind.).

Lynch was a scoring machine for the Cougars Saturday connecting on all three of his field goals attempts and three PATs for 12 total points. His three field goals were from distances of 27, 28 and 25 yards, respectively. Lynch is a perfect 9-for-9 on field goal tries this season and 70-for-72 on extra-point attempts. He is currently second on the team in scoring with 97 total points.

Saint Xavier (11-0 overall/7-0 MSFA) has a bye this weekend after capturing the MSFA Mideast League title and securing a perfect regular season for the second straight year. The Cougars await their seed and pairing for the upcoming 2010 NAIA Championship Series, which begins on Saturday, November 20. The postseason pairings are scheduled to be released by the NAIA on Sunday, November 14, at 2 p.m. central time.
