Findlay, Ohio - Saint Xavier University senior wide receiver Mike Maher (Plainfield, Ill./Providence Catholic) was named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season when the league office released the honor Monday morning. Maher has earned the MSFA Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week two previous times this season (Sept. 13 & 20), but had yet to earn the offensive distinction this fall. He helped lead the No. 3 ranked Cougars to a convincing 41-10 victory over No. 16 Walsh University this past Saturday at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.

Maher finished the game with 11 catches for 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He also had two rushes for 34 yards and a pair of kickoff returns totaling 33 yards on the day. Maher tied two school records in Saturday's game as well with his two trips to the end zone, most touchdown receptions in a season (15) and most total touchdowns in a season (18). Currently, he leads the team in scoring (108), receptions (87), receiving yards (1,064) and all-purpose yards (1,613). Maher also leads the entire NAIA in scoring (108), receptions per game (8.7 rpg) and all-purpose yards (1,613).

SXU (10-0 overall/6-0 MSFA) finishes up its regular season schedule with a huge match-up against No. 7 ranked University of Saint Francis (Ind.). The outcome will likely decide the 2010 MSFA Mideast League champion. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, November 6, at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field.
