CHICAGO - Saint Xavier
University senior righthander Ken Hurta (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) was recently
named to the Chicago Suburban Baseball League (CSBL) 2010 All-College Team for
his impressive play as a member of the Chicago Wildcats during the past
season. The CSBL is an adult, amateur,
wood-bat baseball league that originated in 1983 and features some of the best college,
former college and former professional players in the Chicagoland area. The Wildcats finished 19-24 overall this
season and 12-17 (fifth place) in the South Division of the CSBL.
Hurta had nine starts and compiled a 4-2 record
on the mound. He also boasted a 3.99
earned run average (ERA) and 35 strikeouts over 38.1 innings pitched. Hurta also threw a team-best three complete
game appearances. For the Cougars last
spring, he was named the 2010 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC)
Co-Pitcher of the Year.
Saint Xavier kicks off its 2011 slate in late
February spending its first week playing games in Florida. The home opener is scheduled for Friday,
March 18, against CCAC foe Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.). The nine-inning affair is set for a 3:30 p.m.
start at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago.
