Deerfield, Ill. - A goal by senior forward Kelly Steinhaus (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) in the 19th minute of play proved to be the game-winner as Saint Xavier University defeated Trinity International University (Ill.), 1-0, in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's soccer action on a windy Wednesday afternoon in Deerfield, Ill. With the win, the Cougars improve to 11-6-0 overall this season and 7-2 in the conference standings. Junior keeper Sarah Schrader (Metamora, Ill./Illinois Central College/Metamora) earned her second shutout of the year finishing with eight saves in goal for SXU.

The game-winning goal was set up by a nice cross from junior midfielder Joanna Janulis (Bolingbrook, Ill./Benet Academy). Steinhaus led the offensive attack for the Cougars Wednesday finishing the game with four total shots. TIU had 14 shots in the game, but failed to get one into the net thanks in part to the fine defensive play of Schrader.

Saint Xavier (11-6-0 overall/7-2-0 CCAC) wraps up its regular season slate on Friday, October 29, with a tough conference game against No. 22 Trinity Christian College (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
