CHICAGO - Despite winning the first two sets of the match, the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team could not sustain its early momentum and lost a tough Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match to Robert Morris University (Ill.) in five sets Tuesday night at the Gentile Center in Chicago. The Cougars (17-11 overall/6-4 CCAC) won the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-23, but dropped the next three 25-27, 18-25 and 10-15 to give up the match. Sophomore outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) played well for SXU finishing the night with 19 kills and 12 digs.

Junior setter Ashley August (LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township) recorded 32 assists for the Cougars, while sophomore outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) posted 10 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore libero Christine Bowe (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) was solid defensively leading the team with 19 digs in the match.

Saint Xavier (17-11 overall/6-4 CCAC) heads to Lebanon, Ill., this weekend to take part in the McKendree University Invitational. The Cougars have four matches on the weekend starting with a Friday match against Grand View University (Iowa) at 2 p.m.
