Palos Heights, Ill. - Sophomore outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) posted 11 kills and six digs, but it was not enough to lift the Saint Xavier University women‘s volleyball team to a victory over Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) Friday night at Palos Courts in Palos Heights, Ill. The Cougars (17-10 overall) dropped the match in three straight sets by scores of 22-25, 14-25 and 23-25. The Fighting Bees had 54 kills in the match and had three players post double-digit kill totals.

Junior setter Ashley August (LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township) recorded 28 assists and seven digs for SXU, while sophomore outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) tallied seven kills and 14 digs. Sophomore libero Christine Bowe (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) led the defense for the Cougars posting 15 digs in the match.

Saint Xavier (17-10 overall/6-3 CCAC) takes the rest of the weekend off and returns to action on Tuesday, October 26, against Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Robert Morris University (Ill.). The road match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start in Chicago.
