Romeoville, Ill. - Junior middle blocker Kim Scudder (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) led Saint Xavier University with nine kills and three block assists, but the Cougars could not slow down No. 16 ranked (NCAA Division II) Lewis University in collegiate women's volleyball action Thursday night at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville, Ill. SXU falls to 17-9 overall with the loss after dropping the match in three sets by scores of 13-25, 18-25 and 18-25. Sophomore outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) also played well for the Cougars finishing with five kills and eight digs.

Junior setter Ashley August (LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township) recorded 19 assists and six digs for Saint Xavier, while sophomore outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) posted five kills and nine digs. Sophomore libero Christine Bowe (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) was busy defensively for SXU recording a team-best 15 digs on the night.

Saint Xavier (17-9 overall/6-3 CCAC) continues its season on Friday, October 22, with a non-conference match against Saint Ambrose University (Iowa). The match will be played at Palos Courts in Palos Heights, Ill., starting at 7 p.m.
