University junior kicker Tom Lynch (Frankfort, Ill./Southern Illinois/Joliet JC/Lincoln-Way East) was named the Mid-States
Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week
Monday when the league office released the sixth installment of the weekly
honors for the 2010 season. Lynch kept
his perfect season intact Saturday by drilling all eight of his extra-point
attempts in SXU's 56-25 win over No. 14 Marian University at Bruce R. Deaton
Memorial Field in Chicago. On the year,
Lynch is 6-for-6 on his field goals tries and 48-for-48 on extra points.
Lynch is currently second on the team in scoring
with 66 total points. It is the second
time this season he has been awarded the weekly honor with the first coming
back on September 6. Lynch was also
recently recognized by the Fred Mitchell Award for his excellence both on the
field and in the community during the month of September.
Saint Xavier (7-0 overall/5-0 MSFA) begins a
two-game road stretch this weekend heading to Canton, Ohio, on Saturday, October
16, to take on Malone University (Ohio).
The MSFA Mideast League match-up is scheduled for a 3 p.m. (eastern)
kickoff at Fawcett Stadium in Canton.
