CHICAGO - Led
by impressive individual outings by junior
Rachael Dean (Lindenhurst,
Ill./Judson University/Lakes) and freshman
Jordan Wallace (Frankfort,
Ill./Lincoln-Way North), the Saint Xavier University women's cross country team
ran well at the Bethel College (Ind.) Invitational this weekend in South Bend,
Ind. In a field of seven teams, the
Cougars finished third as a unit with Dean claiming second place individually
and Wallace coming across the finish line in sixth place overall. Dean finished the 5K (5,000 meters) course in
a time of 18:30, while Wallace recorded a time of 19:00.
Junior Jackie Ott (Island Lake, Ill./Marian Central
Catholic) was the third SXU finisher in Friday's meet earning 21st
place with a 19:58 clocking. She was
followed by seniors Kelly Malone (Oak Lawn, Ill./Mother McAuley) and Jade
Braden in 25th and 26th place, respectively. Malone had a time of 20:16, while Braden
finished at 20:20 to wrap up the scoring for Saint Xavier. Also running for the Cougars were senior Katy
Thomson (Matteson, Ill./Marian Catholic) in 34th place at 20:59 and
sophomore Alyssa Driscoll (Marion, Iowa/Xavier) in 39th place at
22:12.
Saint Xavier takes a weekend off before returning to action
on Saturday, October 23, with the Great Lakes Invitational hosted by Aquinas College
(Mich.) in Grand Rapids, Mich. The
women's race is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
