CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University sophomore running back Luke Schillo (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) was named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday for his impressive performance in the Cougars' 34-17 victory over Malone College (Ohio) on Saturday, September 18, at SXU stadium. It was SXU's first win of the 2004 season. Schillo finished the game with a game-high 72 rushing yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns. He scored his first touchdown of the game on a two-yard run with 4:46 remaining in the first quarter, which lifted SXU to a 13-0 advantage. Schillo later tacked on his second score of the day on a three-yard strike with 8:15 left in the third quarter to put the Cougars ahead, 27-3. The 72-yard performance was Schillo's highest rushing output this season.

Saint Xavier (1-2 overall) heads to Beaver Falls, Pa., next Saturday for its second and final MSFA crossover game of the season against Geneva College. Game time is set for 7 p.m. eastern time at Reeves Stadium.
