CHICAGO - Behind team-bests of 11 kills and seven digs by sophomore outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community), the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Tuesday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (14-6 overall) won the match in three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-13 and had some impressive serves finishing the night with 17 aces as a team. SXU has now won six of its last seven matches and is fourth in the conference standings with a 5-2 mark.

Sophomore middle blocker Colleen O'Hara (Lemont, Ill./University of Iowa/Lemont) led the Cougars with six of the team's 17 aces and also posted five kills. Sophomore outside hitter Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) recorded eight kills in the match, while junior setter Ashley August (LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township) dished out 20 set assists. Senior outside hitter Danielle Malloy (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) also played well for SXU finishing with seven kills and two solo blocks.

Saint Xavier (14-6 overall/5-2 CCAC) heads to Palos Heights, Ill., on Friday, October 8, to face off against league-leading Trinity Christian College (Ill.). The big road match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
