Joliet, Ill. -Continuing
her dominating presence in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference
(CCAC), Saint Xavier University junior Rachael Dean (Lindenhurst, Ill./Judson
University/Lakes) gained her fourth CCAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the
Week award Tuesday when the honor was released by the conference office. The talented SXU runner was one of the top
finishers at Loyola University's prestigious Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational
at Chicago's Montrose Harbor Saturday afternoon. Dean ran an impressive time of 18:21 in the
5K (5,000 meters) race to finish 15th overall in a field of 511
runners.
Dean was the third NAIA runner to cross the finish line and
was ahead of several NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA competitors. As a team, Saint Xavier finished 24th
of 41 teams at the meet. Her time of
18:21 was a personal-best in the event.
Saint Xavier continues its
season on Friday, October 8, with the Bethel College (Ind.) Invitational in
South Bend, Ind. The women's race starts
at 5 p.m. (central) at Saint Patrick's Golf Course in South Bend.
