Findlay, Ohio - Saint Xavier University senior wide receiver Mike Maher (Plainfield, Ill./Providence Catholic) was named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week for the second consecutive week when the league office released the honor Monday morning. For the third straight week, Maher logged a kick return for a touchdown when he took a first-quarter punt back 39 yards to the end zone in a 56-17 MSFA Mideast League win over Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Saturday evening. He recorded back-to-back kickoff returns for scores in games against University of St. Francis (Ill.) and Trinity International University (Ill.) the previous two weekends.

Maher also had another stellar outing as a wide receiver finishing the game with six catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the game with 230 all-purpose yards with 39 yards coming from the punt return, 89 yards off kickoff returns, two yards off a rush and 100 receiving yards. Maher has had an explosive start to the 2010 season leading the team in several categories, including scoring (78), touchdowns (13), receptions (31), receiving yards (508) and kickoff return yardage (274).

SXU (4-0 overall/2-0 MSFA) continues its road stretch with a MSFA crossover game against Quincy University (Ill.) on Saturday, September 25. The kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Quincy, Ill.
