Bourbonnais, Ill. -Behind a first-place finish by junior Rachael Dean (Lindenhurst, Ill./Judson University/Lakes), the Saint Xavier University women's cross country team took home second place at the Midwest Classic hosted by Olivet Nazarene University Friday evening at Aspen Ridge Golf Course in Bourbonnais, Ill. The host Tigers, a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival, won the meet with a team score of 37, while the Cougars were not far behind in the 12-team event with a score of 76. Freshman Jordan Wallace (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) also finished among the top 10 individually claiming the No. 7 spot out of 120 runners competing.

Dean completed the 5K course (5,000 meters) with a time of 18:48, while Wallace recorded a 19:35 clocking. Other team scorers for SXU included junior Jackie Ott (Island Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) in 13th place with a time of 20:01, senior Jade Braden (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) at No. 25 with 20:48 and senior Kelly Malone (Oak Lawn, Ill./Mother McAuley) in 30th place at 21:03. Also finishing for the Cougars were senior Katy Thomson (Matteson, Ill./Marian Catholic) at No. 34 in a time of 21:15 and sophomore Alyssa Driscoll (Marion, Iowa/Xavier) in 51st place at 22:24. SXU finished ahead of a number of CCAC and NAIA foes Friday, including Trinity Christian College (Ill.), Judson University (Ill.), Taylor University (Ind.) and Marian University (Ind.)

Saint Xavier heads to Normal, Ill., on Friday, September 17, to take part in the Illinois Intercollegiate Meet hosted by Illinois State University. The meet, which will take place at the Weibring Golf Course in Normal, will start at 5 p.m.
