CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University freshman keeper Kyle Held
(Palatine, Ill./Palatine) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic
Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday for his impressive
display in goal for the Cougars last Wednesday against Cornerstone University
(Mich.). Held finished the game with
five saves and notched his first collegiate shutout to help SXU improve to 2-2 overall
with the victory.
On the year, Held
has had a stellar start starting all four of Saint Xavier's game thus far and
posting 15 saves, while allowing just four goals. In a 4-0 victory over Missouri Baptist on
August 27, Held played the first 80 minutes of regulation before being subbed
out due to the large lead and could not be credited with the shutout.
Xavier (2-2-0 overall) continues its season on Wednesday, September 8, with a non-conference,
road game against Goshen College (Ind.).
The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start (eastern) in Goshen, Ind.
