(Palatine, Ill./Palatine) had an impressive night in goal for the Cougars finishing with five saves and notching his first collegiate shutout. SXU improves to 2-2 on the year with the victory, while Cornerstone falls to 0-2.
The game was evenly matched throughout with both teams accumulating five shots-on-goal in the contest. Guzman and junior forward Matt Klancic
(Aurora, Ill./Bowling Green State University/Waubonsie Valley) each led the way for Saint Xavier with two shots-on-goal apiece, while senior midfielder Alan Bickel
(Aurora, Ill./Northern Illinois University/Waubonsie Valley) also notched one. SXU finished with 14 total shots in Wednesday's game and held a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks.
Saint Xavier (2-2-0 overall) takes a week off before returning to action on Wednesday, September 8, with a non-conference, road game against Goshen College (Ind.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start (eastern) in Goshen, Ind.
