CHICAGO - Sara Cervenka, a sophomore defender/forward from Genoa, Ill., has decided to transfer to Saint Xavier University to continue both her athletic and academic career as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. Cervenka played one season at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill., and played prep soccer at Sycamore High School in Sycamore, Ill. She was coached by David Lichamer during her prep career at Sycamore High School.

Cervenka is the daughter of Steven and Samantha Cervenka of Sycamore. She is planning to pursue a degree in finance at Saint Xavier University. SXU women's soccer coach Jeremy Ekeler thinks Cervenka has the experience and ability to make an instant impact on the program.

"Sara is a late addition that decided, despite a strong freshman year at Northern Illinois, that she wanted to attend a smaller school," said Ekeler. "Based on conversations with the NIU coaching staff and her exceptional high school and club career, I anticipate Sara making a very positive impression on our team. Sara is excited to become a Cougar and we are thrilled to add her to our program."
