Testin Claims Final CCAC Baseball Player of the Week AwardJoliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior outfielder Tony Testin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending May 9 when the conference office released its final installment of the 2010 weekly awards Wednesday. Testin led the Cougars offensively in their three-game conference sweep of Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) last week, which helped the team finish second overall in the final CCAC regular season standings.
Testin hit .692 (9-for-13) on the week against Stritch with two doubles, a triple and three homers. He also finished the stretch with seven runs scored and 10 RBI. His best game on the week was a 4-of-5 performance with two doubles, a home run, five RBI and three runs scored in a 20-10 victory for SXU in the first game of the series. Saint Xavier (37-15-1 overall/23-7 CCAC) heads to Les Miller Field on the campus of University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) tonight at 7:30 p.m. to wrap up the championship for the 2010 CCAC Baseball Tournament. The Cougars trailed No. 4 seed Robert Morris University (Ill.), 5-3, heading into the eighth inning when the game was called Wednesday due to darkness. Play will resume from that point tonight at Les Miller Field. If SXU can rally to win that game, it will force a second game for the championship between the two schools.
