Hillsdale, Mich. - Saint Xavier University senior Lauren Dentzman
(Lemont, Ill./Lemont) qualified for the 2010 NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships in two events last weekend at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich. She earned an "A" standard qualifying time in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:40.06 and also ran the third leg of the "A" standard qualifying 4x800 meter relay with a 9:33.85 clocking. Also competing with Dentzman in the 4x800 meter relay were juniors Kelly Malone
(Oak Lawn, Ill./Mother McAuley), Dana Eppley
(Palos Heights, Ill./Shepard) and Kayla Gilbert
(Country Club Hills, Ill./Shepard). In addition, freshman Mercedes Mancha
(Elgin, Ill./Streamwood) garnered a "B" standard qualifying time in the 5000-meter race walk at the Penn Relays in University Park, Pa.
"Lauren is having a phenomenal season and set personal-best times in both events she competed in this weekend," said SXU women's track and field coach Lisa Ebel
. "I am really looking forward to the national meet, because I want to see what she is capable of. This is the most A' standard times we have ever put up as a team, so I see us competing very well at Nationals."
Saint Xavier heads to Champaign, Ill., on Friday, April 30, to run at the University of Illinois Invitational. The Cougars will wrap up their 2010 regular season at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College (Ill.) on May 13-14 in Naperville, Ill.
