CHICAGO - Freshman forward Lissa Coby (Lake Villa, Ill./Grant Community) scored two more goals Saturday to help lead the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Judson College at SXU stadium. The Cougars improve to 10-5-1 overall this season and 3-3-1 in conference play with in the win.
Coby scored her first goal of the game in the 26th minute of regulation off an assist from freshman forward Alex Sudar (Omaha, Neb./Bryan) to give SXU the early 1-0 advantage. Coby struck again for the Cougars with just 35 seconds left in the first half following a pass from junior defender Kristi Dockus (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest). Ahead 2-0 at halftime, Saint Xavier got an insurance goal from junior midfielder Jen Belmonte (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) in the 67th minute of the game to secure the victory. Coby provided the assist on the Belmonte goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Jessi Brink (Omaha, Neb./Burke) finished the game with eight saves for the shutout victory.
Saint Xavier stays at home to face University of St. Francis (Ill.) for a conference match-up on Wednesday, October 13. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at SXU stadium.
