Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior right-hander Jalyn Shearer (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 11 when the conference office released the award late Tuesday. Shearer appeared in three of the four Cougars' games during the week, earning two wins and a save for her efforts. She pitched a six-inning shutout against University of St. Francis (Ill.) on April 6 and followed that up with a seven-inning win on April 9 against Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) in which she gave up only two runs and two hits. She then pitched a perfect seventh to pick up her first save of the season in the day's second game against CSU.

It is the third time this season that Shearer has won the CCAC Pitcher of the Week award for the Cougars. The Cougars currently sit in second place in the CCAC standings with a 12-2 mark and are 23-9 overall on the season. Shearer currently leads the CCAC with a earned run average of 0.56. Saint Xavier (23-9 overall/12-2 CCAC) returns to action on Thursday, April 15, with a non-conference home doubleheader against No. 7 ranked Belhaven University (Miss.). The first game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
