CHICAGO - With three extra-base hits by junior centerfielder Anthony Mazuir (Oak Forest, Ill./Northern Illinois/Oak Forest), including a pair of fifth-inning doubles, the Saint Xavier University baseball team defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.), 22-2, in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Wednesday afternoon at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago. The Cougars (16-9-1 overall/6-3 CCAC) scored eight runs in the third inning and nine runs in the fifth to secure the big win in just seven innings.

SXU had the hot bats throughout the game as 11 different players had at least one RBI and 12 players scored at least one run. Mazuir and senior left fielder Tony Testin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) each had three RBI at the top of the line-up and started off the big third frame with back-to back triples. They also had help in the bottom part of the order as both sophomore catcher Jim Pipolo (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) and junior third baseman Matt Erickson (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) each had three RBI of their own as well. Senior pitcher Jayson Koehn (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) picked up the victory giving up just one earned run in six innings pitched, while striking out seven batters.

Saint Xavier (16-9-1 overall/6-3 CCAC) travels to Joliet, Ill., on Friday, April 2, to face CCAC rival University of St. Francis (Ill.). The nine-inning game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at Silver Cross Field.
