Michigan City, Ind. - Behind outstanding pitching performances by sisters junior Ashley Shearer (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) and freshman Jalyn Shearer (Beecher, Ill./Beecher), the No. 21 ranked Saint Xavier University softball team swept a pair of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) games from Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) Tuesday in Michigan City, Ind. The Cougars (8-6 overall/2-0 CCAC) won the first game of the doubleheader, 3-0, and then went on to defeat PUNC, 8-1, in the nightcap.
In the first game, Ashley Shearer had a two-hit shutout pitching all seven innings and recording one walk and four strikeouts. With the victory, she improves her win-loss record to 3-1 on the season.
