CHICAGO - Behind a team-best 16 points by junior guard Marco Samimy (Peterson Woods, Ill./CICS-Northtown Academy), the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team pulled away in the second half for an 87-64 victory over East-West University (Ill.) on "Senior Night" Friday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. In addition, senior guards Marcus Jackson (Hammond, Ind./Wayne State/Delta College/Hammond) and Julian Scott had nice games as well. Jackson finished with 13 points off the bench, while Scott tallied nine points and eight rebounds. The Cougars (20-9 overall) got great production off their bench with 53 of their 87 points coming from the reserves.

Sophomore forward Dominique Harvey (Chicago, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor) also scored in double figures Friday night posting 15 points, while junior forward Jake Listebarger (Harvard, Ill./McHenry County/Richmond-Burton) chipped in 10 points. After leading by five, 41-36, at the half, the Cougars poured it on in second-half action shooting 50 percent (19-for-38) from the floor and outscoring the Phantoms, 46-28. Junior forwards Cliff Manning and Rapael Altman each scored 22 points to lead East-West University in Friday's game.

Saint Xavier (20-9 overall/7-3 CCAC) takes part in the 2010 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament next week beginning on Tuesday, March 2. The Cougars will host a first-round game Tuesday and likely face Holy Cross College (Ind.) at 7 p.m. at the Shannon Center.
