CHICAGO - Katy Thomson, a senior cross country and mile runner at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's cross country and track programs. The Matteson, Ill., native is expected to make an immediate impact on both the cross country and indoor/outdoor track teams at SXU next season.
Thomson is the daughter of Andy and Margaret Thomson of Matteson. She plans to pursue a degree in English next year at Saint Xavier. Thomson was coached by Tom Sovereign with the Spartans' girl's cross country team and is currently coached by Lavon Burks on the Marian Catholic girl's track team.
"I'm very excited about Katy's decision to run at SXU," said Saint Xavier University women's cross country/track coach Lisa Ebel. "She is both a talented runner and an excellent student. Katy will be a perfect fit for this program."
