Women's Basketball - Tue, Feb. 16, 2010
Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior guard Angie Bush (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) was named the CCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 14 after her impressive performance in No. 2 ranked SXU's 113-97 victory over conference foe Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Tuesday, February 9. Bush came off the bench to provide a huge lift for her team and set a new career-high scoring mark in the process by dropping 33 points on 15-for-24 shooting in just 21 minutes of playing time. She also finished with five rebounds, five assists, a block and a steal in Saint Xavier's only game of the week.
It is the first time she has earned the weekly honor over her four-year career with the Cougars. Bush becomes the fourth Cougar player this season to receive the recognition with senior forward Erin Hannemann (Homer Glen, Ill./Providence Catholic) earning four previous honors and senior guard Kathlyn McClain (Oak Forest, Ill./Converse College/Oak Forest) and junior point guard Alex Barone (Joliet, Ill./Marian Catholic) each claiming it once.
Saint Xavier (24-1 overall/7-1 CCAC) hosts a big non-conference match-up tonight against No. 23 Lambuth University (Tenn.). The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
